Badminton is a racquet sport played with the help of shuttlecock and a light weighted racquet. It is played in two categories singles and doubles. In badminton the players are positioned facing each other and separated by a net. Each player hits the shuttle with the aim of landing it inside the marked boundaries of the court, and aim to prevent their opponents from doing the same, this is the basic rule for the game. The court which can be used both for singles and doubles has dimension 20feet by 44feet.

The main difference between tennis and badminton is that in tennis one bounce is allowed whereas in badminton it is prohibited. There are typically five events: women's singles, men's singles, men's doubles, women's doubles and mixed doubles (each pair is composed of one man and one woman). By looking at the shuttle and its weight most of the people gets the feeling that it cannot travel with a great velocity, but this is a misconception. A shuttle can travel with a velocity greater than 300 km/hr.
